Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the South East region of Nigeria have ended a Zonal meeting in Enugu, on Monday, discussing efforts at returning the opposition political party to winning ways, both in the South East zone and the entire country.
The meeting is coming less than a month to a crucial off-cycle governorship election in Imo State, where the former ruling PDP in the state lost political control.

The host, Governor Peter Mbah laments the dwindling fortunes of the party in the region, calling on members to rise to the task of recovering lost grounds and rebuilding the PDP to its pre-eminent position of the past years
Mbah who holds the position of leader of the Party in the zone, stressed the need to rejig the party’s financial, administrative, and operational strategies, expressing a strong conviction that the PDP would bounce back.
The National Vice Chairman, South East zone, Ali Odefa as well as the Chairman of the Party’s Board of Trustees, Adolphus Wabara, agree to the fact that the PDP has shed a lot of political weight and influence in the zone, appealing to party faithfuls and leaders to brace up to the challenge of engendering resurgence of the party in the South East zone and nationally.
ait.live reports that the meeting was attended by PDP leaders and stalwarts in the South East region of Nigeria, including two former governors of Imo State; a former governor of Ebonyi State, as well state party Chairmen in the region, among others.
