South-South Senators Back Tax Reform Bills, Caution Against Ethnic Sentiments

The South-South Caucus in the Senate has expressed support for the Tax Reform Bills presented to the National Assembly by President Bola Tinubu.

The lawmakers pledged to deepen consultations and refine the tax reform bills in the interest of the South-South region and Nigeria as a whole, with a focus on strengthening federalism and promoting inclusive national development.

In a communique signed by Chairman of the South-South Senate Caucus, Senator Seriake Dickson, and all Senators from the region, acknowledged the importance of tax reforms in boosting national revenue and enhancing economic stability.

The caucus resolved to support the Tax Reform Bills, ensuring that their final content aligns with the broader interests of Nigerians, particularly the South-South region.

Senator Dickson emphasized that their support for the bills will be based on a comprehensive study and thorough evaluation of their contents, to ensure that they serve the best interests of the nation and the well-being of the South-South.

The South-South Senate Caucus, led by Senator Seriake Dickson, passed a unanimous vote of confidence in the President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio.

The caucus called for restraint from those attempting to inject regional, ethnic, or tribal sentiments into national discussions and expressed optimism for ongoing robust interactions and consultations initiated by the Senate.

Senator Dickson further affirmed that lawmakers from the South-South region remain committed to working collaboratively with their colleagues across the Senate and all relevant stakeholders to foster a legislative agenda that promotes the peace, prosperity, and progress of the nation.

The South-South Senators reiterated their unwavering support for Akpabio’s leadership, pledging to back him in steering the Senate toward fulfilling its constitutional mandate of making laws that serve the best interests of the nation and its citizens.
