Some youth groups from the South-South region of Nigeria are demanding that details of the sale of gold and other minerals be made public and proceeds shared among the states of the federation as is the case with the sale of oil from the Niger Delta region.
The youths who made the demand while addressing the media in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State condemned the sale of gold to the Central Bank of Nigeria by the Zamfara state government and threatened a nationwide protest if their demands are not met.
Controversy continues to trail the sale of gold bars to the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, by the Zamfara State government.
The youths from the South-South under the aegis of Young Democratic Movement and South-South Youth Assembly say the executive and legislative arm of government must rise against what it terms an act of lawlessness.

The youths also demand an upward review of the oil derivation formula to oil producing states.
They stated that if there is no satisfactory response from the Federal Government youths from the region would embark on a nationwide protest to draw the attention of the international community to their plight
