The speaker Abuja Municipal Area Council Matthew Yare has been removed from office.
His impeachment which took place in the early hours of Monday saw eight members of the APC electing Ibrahim Jankaro as the new speaker.
Yare replacement became possible after the APC councillors out numbered those of the former ruling party the PDP.

Currently, the APC is controlling eight wards out of the twelve in the Abuja Municipal Area Council.
APC councillors outnumbered those in PDP following the official decamping of the executive chairman Abuja Municipal Area Council, Christopher Maikalangu from the People’s Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress APC.
