Federal Ministry of Youths, Sports and Development (FMYSD) says it has in collaboration with the Office of Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) established a Department in the Ministry that will be solely responsible for National Sports Festival and Para-Sports.
Hon. Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare who made this known at the Government House in Asaba during the Extra Ordinary National Council on Sports meeting and signing of the Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) between the Federal Ministry of Sports and Delta state government ahead of the 2022 National Sports Festival said its establishment would give Para-Sports desired attention.

The meeting which was attended by various State Sports Councils including the Federal Capital Territory is aimed at updating members on sports developments including Delta State right to host the 21st National Sports Festival in 2022.
Dare reeled out some of the reforms taking place in the nations Sports ministry which include reclassification of Sports as Business, reviewed National Sports Industry Policy (NSIP) that is in its final stage, accountability and Funding autonomy being promoted by President Buhari.
Governor Okowa who called for a holistic approach to sports development and management observes that Nigeria has jettisoned lawn tennis and boxing that brought them into limelight decades ago.
Governor Okowa later inaugurated the Local Organizing Committee for the Delta 2022 National Sports Festival headed by the Secretary to the State government Patrick Ukah while the minister constituted and announced the composition of the 16 Member Main Organizing Committee (MOC).
Brighter side of the occasion is the signing of the 2022 National Sports Festival Memorandum of Understanding between Delta State government and the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.
