The joint action committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) has issued a 30-day strike notice to the Federal Government, demanding it reconvene and conclude the renegotiated 2009 agreement in a fair, acceptable, and time-bound manner.
Speaking on behalf of the two non-teaching staff unions, SSANU President, Mohammed Haruna said the ultimatum has become necessary as government continues to pay lip service to resolutions reached in past meetings
The SSANU President also condemned the persist delays in salary payment in some federal and state universities as well as the non-payment of approved increments and other withheld entitlements to workers
The unions noted with concern the growing economic hardship which it says has increased inflation and reduced workers economic power as it calls on Governments to release palliative to cushion the effect of the situation
