The Senior Staff Association of Universities SSANU North Central Zone, have described as discriminatory and unfair the Federal Government’s decision to pay half of the backlog of withheld salaries of non–teaching staff as against the four months paid to their teaching counterparts.

The Senior Staff of the universities are therefore demanding the immediate payment of the four months backlog of salaries to avoid total collapse of industrial harmony.

Non remittance of over 28 months of contributions as well as loan deductions of the entire staff of the Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University Makurdi and other institutions to the Federal mortgage bank as well as other sundry matters formed the basis for discussion during the 10th North central zonal executive council meeting of Senior staff association of Nigerian Universities SSANU.

Issues regarding the proposed amendment of the Benue State University establishment law and other issues regarding the State owned tertiary institution equally came up.

They also expressed reservations regarding the decision of the Federal Government to pay half backlog of non-teacing staff salaries as against that of their teaching counterparts.

The SSANU zonal executive council kicked against a recent move by the Federal Government to charge citizens to fight cyber crime.
