The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, is threatening fresh industrial action over unpaid four months salaries in 2022.

SSANU in a six-paragraph communique read by its President, Mohammed Haruna at the end of its National executive Council meeting says over 100 of its members have died due to indebtedness, hunger, treatable sicknesses, depression and starvation.

MUST READ:

It says the Federal Government’s announcement of N5 billion subsidy palliativee to states is only political

SSANU says even though it has not accepted the last 35% and 25% pay rise for Nigerian University workers, it has decided to politely but grudgingly ask the government to swiftly begin its implementation

SSANU is equally calling on the Education Minister, Professor Tahir Mamman to conclude negotiation on the 2009 FGN/SSANU agreement renegotiations as directed by President Tinubu

SSANU cautioned State Governments against plans to pull theyr universities out of the universities unions, warning that it could lead to an unending industrial disharmony.

SSANU asks President Tinubu to quickly constitute universities governing councils, even though it raises concerns over the usurpation of the boards powers by the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation.
