The Bayelsa state government wants the National Boundary Commission to prioritize the boundary issue with Bayelsa and neighbouring Rivers state.

At a stakeholders town hall meeting and Ethnographic study about communities along the Bayelsa/Delta states boundary this Monday in Yengoa, the state’s deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo reiterated that except the issue of equity was addressed there will be no peace.

The stakeholders town hall meeting concerning the boundary discrepancy between Bayelsa and Delta states was to lay a foundation that would enable appropriate demarcation of the boundaries.

But the Bayelsa State Deputy Governor who is also the state chairman of the boundaries commission says, the state was more interested in the boundary dispute between Bayelsa and Rivers state which was denying it a lot of revenue.

He urged the commission to show equity and apply the same approach that was used in the Bayelsa/Delta on the Bayelsa/Rivers State boundary dispute.

The team leader of the National Boundaries Commission, Oluwafemi Oshinaike said, the commission was doing its best to resolve the Bayelsa/Rivers issues.
