Delta state governor Senator Ifeanyi Okowa and Vice-Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says Nigeria as it is today needs bridge builders that will mitigate the frustration that is threatening the existence of Nigeria.
Governor Okowa who made this call when he received the Emir of Kano Alhaji Amịnu Adọ Bayero, and His Majesty, Benjamin Ikenchukwu, Keagborekuzi 1, the Dein of Agbor Kingdom who paid him courtesy visit at government house Asaba, noted that Nigeria is confronted with several challenges that government alone cannot solve.
Governor Okowa insisted that solving the nation’s problems may take time but with the support of Nigerians and the Royal fathers especially on issue of insecurity, solutions will be easily attained being custodians of tradition and culture of the people.
The governor described himself as one of those that believed that Royal fathers should be assigned constitutional roles beyond their current status.
He thanked the Emir for the role he has played in building bond of unity among Nigerians.
Earlier, the Emir of Kano who said his visit was to cement the age-long relationship that had existed between Kano and Delta state, harped on the importance of being honest with each other.
With an assurance to support and pray for governor Okowa’s success in his political career, Emir Adọ Bayero urged politicians to encourage their supporters to be civil during political activities and to act in the interest of the nation.
