The Yoruba Council of elders has appealed to the justifiably angry youths all over the country to sheathe their sword, go off the streets, and maintain peace. They say Nigerians share their pain and anguish in these challenging times but that they must take their case to the negotiating table now.
In a statement signed by the secretary, Kunle Olajide, the elders say Nigeria needs a new people oriented constitution which will recognize the diversity of our country and return power to the federating units where Nigerians reside. It also says they must avoid losing the sympathy of the whole world
The elders say the youths must also not ethnicize the national problem and must refuse to be provoked to destroy our patrimony and the proud heritage of our fatherland like the infrastructure that our very patriotic forefathers built which will be the foundation blocks of a new Yoruba nation in a new Nigeria where justice equity and fairness will reign supreme.

The political leadership, the elite i.e. the federal government, the national assembly and state governors must rise up and initiate the process of righting all wrongs and correcting the injustices in the system immediately.
The elders advise that all Nigerians must continue to pray for our country
