Following online reports about the death of the Statistician-General of the Federation, Dr. Simon Harry, the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS has issued a statement describing the story as fake news.

Below is the full text of the statement:

The attention of the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, has been drawn to the news of the purported death of the Statistician-General of the Federation, Dr. Simon Harry published in an online medium, africandrumnews.wordpress.com, on the 10th of April 2022 and may have been syndicated to other platforms.

The Bureau wishes to state that there is no iota of truth in this publication and calls on the publishers of africandrumnews.wordpress.com. to desist from spreading fake news and misleading the general public.

The Statistician-General may have been ill in recent time but he is currently doing very well and will be back in the office soon to continue in his good works of repositioning the National Bureau of Statistics.

The general public should therefore discountenance the report of the purported death of the Statistician-General as published by africandrumnews.wordpress.com.
