Overnight rains from storm Dennis flooded towns in Wales, as the meteorology agency issued the highest level of alert on Sunday warning of severe flooding.
Residents in Pontypridd, a town in the Rhondda Cynon Taf County, saw water level increase on the River Taff at around midnight on Sunday.
Images showed the river breaching its banks and threatening nearby homes. Other images on social media showed cars almost fully submerged in the floods.
The United Kingdom’s MET office issued a red weather warning, about prolonged heavy rain across parts of South Wales on Sunday that would lead to severe flooding.

Storm Dennis prompted the environment agency to issue 238 alerts cautioning for flooding in England on Saturday, disrupting multiple flights into Gatwick and Luton airports.
