Governor Godwin Obaseki has called on workers in Edo State to reject the palliatives being offered by the Federal Government to cushion the effect of the removal of fuel subsidy in Nigeria.
The Governor was speaking when he received protesting workers under the aegis of the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC, bearing placards with various inscriptions, calling for repairs of the comatose refineries, reversal of what they termed, anti-poor policies, eight months withheld salaries of varsities staff and other issues to the State Government house in Benin City.

Governor Obaseki said his reason for the call for the rejection of the President’s promises was borne out of his lack of concern for the plight of the masses.
The Governor denounced the move which he described as fake and called on Organised Labour not to accept it.
He says the Edo State Government will contribute its quota to ameliorate the sufferings of the people.
Obaseki appreciated the protesters for the peaceful conduct of the exercise.
