As part of its agricultural intervention to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal, the Taraba State Government has begun the distribution of 2,460 metric tonnes of fertiliser in the area.
The fertilisers were handed over to the state government’s Palliative Care Committee for distribution to farmers across the 16 local government areas of the state.
Taraba is an agrarian state, with the majority of its population engaged in farming as their source of livelihood.
The distribution of 2,460 metric tonnes of fertiliser by the Taraba State Government will aid farmers in the state, as it provides succour from the harsh economic reality caused by the removal of fuel subsidies by the Federal Government, and in turn, a hike in the prices of farm inputs.
The fertilisers were handed over to the Taraba State Palliative Care Committee by the Commissioner for Agriculture, Nicholas Oliver.

Most of the farmers commended the government for the agricultural input
Despite its vast agricultural potential, Taraba State remains at risk of food crisis due to insecurity, and the high cost of agricultural input.
However, such intervention by the state government can salvage the situation, if properly utilised.
