Record winners of the CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, Nigeria’s Super Falcons, have been drawn in Group C alongside Zambia, Egypt, and debutants Malawi for the WAFCON 2026 tournament in Morocco.

The official draw ceremony took place on Thursday at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat, with former Kenyan International, Beldine Odemba and Moroccan goalkeeper, Khadija Er-Rmichi assisting in the process.

SEEDING AND GROUP STRUCTURE
The 16 qualified teams were seeded into four pots based on the latest FIFA rankings.

Hosts Morocco were automatically placed at the top of Group A, while defending champions Nigeria occupy the top spot in Group C.

GROUP C BREAKDOWN:
The Super Falcons will renew their rivalry with the Copper Queens of Zambia, a team they convincingly defeated 5–0 in the quarter-finals of the 2024 edition en route to lifting a record-extending tenth title.

Malawi will be making their debut at the Women’s AFCON, while Egypt returns to the tournament for the first time since 2016, when they exited at the Group stage.

OTHER GROUPS:
Group A is headlined by hosts Morocco, runners-up in the last two editions, and also features Algeria, Senegal, and Kenya.

Group B includes 2022 champions South Africa, alongside Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, and Tanzania.

In Group D, Ghana’s Black Queens, three-time runners-up, are the top seeds.
They will face the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon, who have also finished runners-up on three occasions, as well as Mali and debutants Cape Verde.

TOURNAMENT DETAILS:
The CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations 2026 will run from March 17 to April 3, 2026, and will be hosted across three cities in Morocco.

Matches will be played in Rabat, which will host games at two venues, as well as the Fez Stadium and the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca.
