The Supreme Court of Nigeria has finally put to rest the issue of who occupies the Mashi/Dutsi federal constituency seat in the National assembly following its ruling on Thursday, August 10, declaring Salisu Majigiri as the winner.

Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola who led the other 4 Supreme Court judges set aside both the federal high court judgment in Katsina and that of the court of appeal in Kaduna saying that, the matter which was a pre-election case was statute barred.

The case was between Nazifi Bello and Salisu Majigiri both of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, over the primaries that saw the emergence of Majigiri as the flag bearer.

During the judgment, the panel made a consequential order to INEC to immediately withdraw the certificate of return issued to Nazifi Bello and a new one issued to Salisu Majigiri.

The Supreme Court also awarded a 10 million naira fine to the first complainant as well as another 10 million naira to the PDP, the second complainant.

Following his victory at the Supreme Court, Majigiri returned to his constituency amidst a homecoming as they came out en mass to receive him.

Majigiri who is returning to the national assembly for the second time, pledged to give good representation to his constituency by presenting sound submission to the House for the betterment of his people and the country at large.

The Law Maker promised an open door policy by working closely with major stakeholders to ensure quality representation, especially with the sound reception organised for him by his people.

He therefore called on the people of his constituency to continue with their support which according to him will add more value to his representation at the National Assembly.
