Tragedy has hit the Supreme Court of Nigeria as one of its Justices, Sylvester Nwali Ngwuta passed on at the early hours of Sunday in Abuja.
Sources at the apex court confirmed that Justice Ngwuta died in his sleep, at his official residence in Abuja at the age of almost seventy years.
Justice Sylvester was born in 1951 at Amofia-Ukawu, Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, South-Eastern, Nigeria.
He obtained a bachelor’s degree in Law from Obafemi Awolowo University and was called to the Nigerian bar in 1978 after he graduated from the Nigerian Law School.

Justice Ngwuta was supposed to retire from the Supreme Court on 30th March, 2021 upon attainment of 70 years mandatory retirement age.
