Counsel for Abbah Yusuf of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Adeboyega Awomolo SAN, while adopting his brief argued that the result of the March 23, 2019 supplementary governorship election was predicated upon the electoral officer and did not produce any lawful vote. He therefore urged the Court to allow the appeal and nullify the declaration of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje as winner of the election.

Other appeals before the Court for consideration are those challenging the elections of Governors Emeka Ihedioha of Imo State, Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State snd Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State. Others are Simon Lalong of Plateau State and Samuel Ortom of Benue State
