The Supreme Court abruptly rises after one of the seven justices hearing the appeal in the 2019 Kano State governorship election suddenly took ill while proceedings were ongoing.
The incident happened shortly after counsel for Abbah Yusuf of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Adeboyega Awomolo, adopted his brief and urged the court to allow the appeal.

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Mohammad, announced that the court will have to abruptly rise having noticed that Justice Olukayide Ariwoola suddenly took ill.
The CJN led other six justices out of the Court which was filled to capacity to enable them attend to their ailing colleague.
As at the time if this report, the lawyers including about 30 Senior Advocates of Nigeria are waiting for the return of the panel to continue with the proceedings
