The National Human Rights Commission, NHRC has closed the petition filed by Benue state Covid-19 index case Susan Okpe against the State Government, for lack of substance in her claims.
Okpe had written to the Commission alleging that her rights were violated by the Benue State Government when her test result of Covid-19 from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC retuned positive and the Governor made it public in line with provisions of the National Health Act 2014.

In the letter signed by the Director, Civil and Political Rights, A. A Yakubu on behalf of the Executive Secretary, the Commission said Susan Okpe’s claims could not be established, leaving it with no other option than to close her petition.
Susan Okpe, had vehemently denied her COVID-19 status even when several tests carried out on her returned positive.
This resulted in contoversy through videos she recorded and posted online after which she took the matter to the Human Rights Commission.
