Police in Niger State say they have succeeded in arresting a 35-year old female, Zuwaira Usman of Pandogari in Rafi Local Government Area of the State, who is suspected of specialising in transporting arms and ammunition for terrorists.

Zuwaira was said to have been arrested on November 4, 2025 based on intelligence received by Police operatives of FID STS in Niger State.

In a statement by the spokesman of the Police Command, SP Wasi’u Abiodun, during interrogation, the suspect stated that she met one Lawali in Birnin-Gwari, Kaduna State within the month of September, 2025 where they exchanged phone numbers and in the course of their interaction, Lawali requested her to travel to Warri, Delta State and collect a package for him.

It was further gathered that she claimed that N20,000 was given to her as transport fare by Lawali and she proceeded on the journey.

Upon arriving in Abuja, Zuwaira stated that Lawali spoke with the driver and informed them where she would be dropped off in Warri.

She further narrated that on getting to her destination, she met a man on a motorcycle who gave her a sack which contained a flask with some items to deliver to Lawali.

The suspect said that the man was later identified as Ahmed, and he gave her an additional N30,000 for her transport back to Kaduna.

Zuwaira added that she took the bag to Lawali in Birnin-Gwari, and it was discovered that a total of 2,500 AK-47 ammunition was contained in the flask delivered to Lawali.

Further reports indicated that Ahmed was later intercepted and arrested in Delta State, while efforts are ongoing to arrest Lawali, as the investigation is intensified.
