Youths suspected to be hoodlums at the early hours of Sunday invaded the zonal office of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control NAFDAC in Kaduna.

The hoodlums who invaded the NAFDAC office destroyed property worth millions of Naira. After invading a warehouse in Barnawa where COVID-19 palliatives were kept, the hoodlums turned their attention to the NAFDAC Zonal Office in Narayi.

The hoodlums broke through the fence to gain access to the warehouse where expired drugs and those to be tested are kept.

Documents, drugs, and other valuables were destroyed, while computer systems, vehicle batteries, solar panels were stolen. Some shop owners around the area were seen packing their wares for fear of being burgled.

Councilor of Narayi, Rahilla Bivan has appealed to patent medicine store owners not to buy the drugs from the youths. However, the zonal director of NAFDAC declined to comment on the issue.

Although nobody can categorically tell why the hoodlums invaded the NAFDAC office, however, there are presumptions by the hoodlums that COVID-19 palliatives were kept there.
