No fewer than twenty-six persons have been killed by suspected terrorists.

The terrorists launched a renewed attack on farmers at Jambako, Sakida, and Saulawa Villages in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Northwest, Nigeria.

Eyewitness accounts said that the suspected terrorists launched the attack on the farmers in the morning when they were preparing their farms for this year’s farming season, on Saturday.

Sources from the two troubled communities said that 21 persons were killed at Jambako while five persons from Sakida and two at Saulawa were left with different degrees of injuries.

They also explained that the suspected terrorists started launching their attacks on the farmers in the Sakida community when some members of the vigilantes got the news from Jambako and swiftly ran to confront the terrorists in a gun battle which resulted in the loss of 18 persons.

The sources said 21 persons who were killed at Jambako have been buried and the other five from the Sakida community have also been buried.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Zamfara State Command, Assistant Superintendent, ASP Yazid Abubakar, confirmed the incident.

He, however, said that for now, he can not ascertain the casualty figures, as operatives are currently investigating, to know the number of persons affected in the troubled communities.
