World number three Iga Swiatek captured her maiden Cincinnati title with a commanding 7-5, 6-4 victory over Italy’s seventh seed Jasmine Paolini.
The six-time Grand Slam champion did not drop a single set throughout the tournament.
In the final, she was clinical, converting all six break point opportunities to seal her 11th WTA 1000 title and her first since last year’s Italian Open.
Swiatek now ranks second on the all-time WTA 1000 titles list, behind only Serena Williams.
She is also set to team up with Norway’s Casper Ruud in the newly revamped mixed doubles draw at the US Open, which kicks off today.
Elsewhere, five-time grand slam winner Carlos Alcaraz claimed the men’s title after top seed Jannik Sinner was forced to retire early in the first set, handing Alcaraz a 5-0 walkover win
