Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has visited Binnari Community in Karim Lamido Local Government Area, on a fact finding mission following a boat mishap that claimed the lives of at least 20 people.
The Governor also commiserated with the families and friends who lost loved ones as a result of the incident, and calls for strict compliance to safety guidelines by both boat operators and passengers
The ill-fated boat was said to be enroute Binnari in Karim Lamido from Mayo-Renewo in Ardo-Kola Local Government Area, with over 80 passengers majority of them women and children.
A fact finding visit by a State Government delegation led by the Deputy Governor Aminu Alkali, who is representing Governor Agbu Kefas, identified over-loading, and a barricade set up by fishermen on the water way as possible causes of the accident.

Taraba State Deputy Governor commiserated with families and friends of the victims and prayed for the repose of their souls
He also assures that the State Government will do it’s part to avert reoccurrence, urging boat operators and water travellers to comply with safety measures.
Atleast 20 bodies have been recovered since the boat mishap, and the death toll is likely to rise.
