Taraba Economy: State Govt. Hosts Federal Ministry of Finance’s Retreat

Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas

Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas said he will continue to adopt global best practices that promote accountability, inclusivity, and prevent financial leakages, for greater transparency and ease of doing business.

The Governor was speaking at the 2026 Central Results Delivery Coordination Unit Retreat of the Federal Ministry Of Finance and it’s agencies which was hosted in Jalingo.

The hosting of the 2026 Retreat in Jalingo the Taraba State capital is part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between the federal and sub-national governments.

The event, which was held at the Banquet Hall of the T.Y Danjuma House, brought together stakeholders at the centre of monitoring and evaluating the implementation of key government policies and programmes.

The theme for the 2026 retreat was “Consolidating the Achievements Of The Eight Presidential Priorities, the role of the Federal Ministry Of Finance In Results Delivery “, with focus on how Nigeria can navigate the dynamic Global economic landscape, and address pressing domestic fiscal challenges.

The Auditor General of the Federation Shaaka Chira said the country is increasingly aligning with global best practices in result based public sector management.

Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas, who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of State Gebon Kataps said the event is timely, especially with the rising cost of energy, as a result of the crisis in the Middle East.

He noted that the Taraba State Government has repositioned to promote financial transparency, attract local and international investors, and ease business collaborations.

The need for a shift from input driven governance to result oriented and performance based public administration systems is part of issues that took centre stage at the event.
