Monarchs in Taraba State have been cautioned against the indiscriminate issuance of traditional titles.
Governor Agbu Kefas who gave the warning, added that undeserving titles will be revoked.
The Governor was speaking at the presentation of Staff of Office to two 3rd-class chiefs in Jalingo, the State capital.
The Kun Cio of Ando-idi in Wukari Local Government Area, and the Gara of Chanchagi in Takum Local Government Areas of Taraba State were presented with staffs of office, following their installation as the traditional chiefs of their communities.
The presentation of the symbols of authority was performed by Governor Agbu Kefas, at a ceremony held at the T.Y. Danjuma House in Jalingo.
Governor Agbu Kefas said the selection process of the monarchs was done by the people, in line with their traditions, and tasked them with the responsibilities of ensuring peace in their domains.
Governor Kefas also cautioned traditional rulers in Taraba State on the what he called the frivolous issuance of titles based on political motives, rather than the track records of excellence by the recipients.

He warned that such titles would be revoked, together with other consequences.
He however assured of his administration’s resolve to strengthen the traditional institutions, to carry out their responsibilities to the masses.
The oaths of office on the monarchs were administered by the Chief Judge of Taraba State.
