The Lagos State Environmental Sanitation and Special Offenses Unit, has cleared the Oshodi railway track and the Apongbon under bridge following the directive of the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-olu to rid the state of illegal traders and street trading on the highways and major streets in the state.

According to the Chairman of the agency, CSP Shola Jejeloye, the action of the officials is to prevent a re-ccurrence of any environmental challenge that may lead to loss of lives and property and to restore sanity on the walkways, highways and rail tracks where some individuals incessantly carry out trading activities debasing the environment.

According to Jejeloye, notices have been served in the last two years to those at Fagba, Pen Cinema and Isokoko where people built shanties shortchanging pedestrians from having free movement along that axis of the state.

The Task Force boss who also added that goods found on the Oshodi rail tracks were seized called on market leaders to come to the agency’s headquarters for a roundtable discussion on how to permanently resolve the issue.

Jejeloye urged all traders to carry out their trading activities at the complex provided by the State Government and desist from carrying out activities that may jeopardise the productivity of the state.
