The President Chartered Institute of Taxation, Gladys Olajumoke has emphasized the need for State governments to grant their tax administrators total financial and administrative autonomy to effectively drive their Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
Olajumoke made this known when she led a delegation of the institute to the Government House,Makurdi the Benue State.
The delegation was in the State for the investiture ceremony of the 4th Chairman of its Benue State Chapter.

The President restated commitment to partner with the State to enhance its revenue generation.
She called for synergy between the government and the institution in the area of training of staff in its financial and taxation sectors.
On how to increase the level of tax compliance; the ychairman of the Council urged the State government to concentrate more on advocacy and engagement of stakeholders particularly those in the informal sector.
Responding, the State Governor, Samuel Ortom said he remained committed to partnering with the institution to boost the State’s revenue generation particularly at a time when the country is confronted with yet another economic recession.
