As part of his welfare packages to officers and men of the Police, Inspector General of Police Alkali Baba has presented cheques valued at 18.9 million Naira to the families and next of kin of deceased police officers, who died while in active service in Katsina State.

Baba said the funds given to the families, will go a long way to assist them to take care of the children and start up businesses.

Presenting the 40 cheques to 20 families, the Inspector-General of Police Alkali Baba, represented by the Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Idris Dabban, said the cheques were part of the IGP’s Family Welfare Insurance Scheme, being given to families of deceased Police Officers.

He added that the programme is a continuous one, aimed at telling the police officers that their years of active service will never be forgotten.

The wife of a late Deputy Superintendent of Police, Hajara Mukthar, who got a 1.2 million Naira cheque, said her husband died while serving the nation.
She said her husband, late DSP Mukthar Aliyu was killed last year, leaving behind some responsibilities, which the money will assist to take care of, especially the children in school, and starting up a business for sustenance.
