Tennis : Rafael Nadal Announces Retirement

22-time grand slam champion Rafael Nadal has announced that he will retire from tennis at the end of this season.

The 38-year-old will represent spain in his final appearance at next month’s Davis cup finals in Malaga.
Nadal had with a hip injury in recent times missing most part of the 2023 season.

He confirmed his retirement in a video message released on thursday where he admitted that the last two years have been difficult noting that he has played with limitations.

Nadal retires unarguably as the second-most successful men’s singles player of all time, behind Novak Djokovic.

Nadal dubbed the king of clay won the french open singles title a record 14 times, winning 112 of his 116 major matches at Roland Garros.

Born in Mallorca Spain, Nadal began his professional tennis career in 2001 when he was only 15.
He holds a career record of 1080 wins and 227 losses.

He won the US open four times and emerged champion of Australian open and Wimbledon twice.
