Nearly three years after the tragic attack on Saint Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State, suspected bandits have issued another threat of attack to the same church.

Recall that on June 5, 2022, gunmen stormed the church during service, killing and injuring several worshippers.

The community is now on edge after receiving a new letter from suspected bandits, threatening a repeat attack.

When AIT contacted the Police public relations officer in the state, Olusola Ayanlade, who could not confirm knowledge of such threat said the force has its men stationed in strategic locations across the state to forestall any break down of law and order.

Meanwhile, the traditional ruler of the community, the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III has convened a security summit to address rising insecurity in the area.

According to the summit’s Publicity Secretary, Bosun Oladimeji, the meeting aims to raise awareness about community security, foster cooperation between residents and law enforcement agents, reduce crime, and propose sustainable security initiatives.
