The Benue State House of Assembly has approved the extension of the tenure of Caretaker Committees of the Local Government Councils for a period of six months.
This follows a request sent to the Assembly by Governor Hyacinth Alia, and read on the floor of during plenary by the Speaker, Aondona Dajoh.

indicates that the tenure of the current Caretaker Chairmen was scheduled to expire this Wednesday, June 5. The extension of the tenure will avail the State Independent Electoral Commission, BESIEC enough time to prepare and conduct the local government council elections.

However, while the tenure of the Caretaker Committees was extended, some of the Chairmen were replaced.

- Logo LGA: Benjamin Uzenda
- Ado LGA: Gloria Ogebe
- Agatu LGA: Philip Ebenyaku
- Apa LGA: Ochai Alidu

The newly nominated Interim Chairmen are to submit their Curriculum Vitae to the Assembly on or before Thursday this week for onward screening and confirmation.
