The Ondo State Government has reassured residents of their safety following the circulation of a leaked security memo warning of a possible terrorist attack in parts of the state.

The memo, reportedly issued by the State Security Service (SSS) to the 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Akure, had surfaced in the media, sparking public concern.

However, in a statement issued on Wednesday, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Idowu Ajanaku, said the government is fully aware of the memo and has been working closely with security agencies to forestall any potential threat.

Ajanaku explained that the leaked memo was part of routine intelligence sharing between security agencies and the government, aimed at identifying and preventing possible security breaches.

He assured residents that the intelligence report is being acted upon by the government and relevant security bodies, adding that necessary precautions have been taken to ensure the safety of all citizens.

He further disclosed that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has been in constant communication with security agencies to strengthen surveillance, especially in border communities, to ensure Ondo remains one of the safest states in the country.
