Terrorists abduct 11, kill 2 at Katsina diamond processing site

No fewer than 11 persons have been abducted while 2 others were killed and 5 injured when Yan’ tadda terrorists operating in Jibiya Local Government Area of Katsina state attacked a diamond processing site.

The processing site which is located at Bakin Korama Community of Magamar Jibiya was set up and came alive 2 weeks ago to process diamonds from illegal miners within the axis and from the neighboring Niger Republic.

Chairman of the Katsina Diamond Processors, Tasi’u Abdullahi while speaking over the development also debunked the rumors that 2 soldiers and 7 others died as a result of gun duel with the Yan’ Ta’adda terrorists over 70 million naira gold nuggets.

He added that, the attack occured on Thursday night when one of the workers sighted the terrorists and raised an alarm thereby, making the terrorists to begin shooting sporadically.

Abdullahi further said, the incident led to the death of 2 persons, while 5 were injured and 11 others, abducted.

According to Abdullahi, they have good relationship with the different security operatives in the area especially as it is a border town to the Niger Republic.

The chairman further added that, the processing site has over seventy factories including manual processors and therefore, called on the Government to recognise the site and provide them with adequate security.

This, he said if done will assist the unemployed teeming youths and greatly contribute to the Internally Generated Revenue of the state.

A processed diamond of about 1 grams, is sold for 27 thousand naira as they get supply of raw materials from Mazanya and Zandam within the Jibiya Local Government Area as well as from Niger Republic.
