Terrorists operating in the forest area of Faskari Local Government Area, have abducted 21 boys and girls, who were working on the farm, and demanded 30 million Naira ransom.

A spokesman of the Police, Superintendent Gambo Isah, who confirmed the development, said the girls constituted more of the numbers than the boys.

According to him, the incident occurred around the Mailafia Company, in Faskari Local Government Area.

He said the Commissioner of Police, Idris Dabban, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, to mobilize the Divisional Police Officer and the Tactical Unit of the area, in collaboration with the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, to intensify efforts for rescue.

Though another source in the area claimed 39 of the children were abducted, as the terrorists have since demanded a ransom of 30 million Naira, which the police denied knowledge of.

He added that the terrorists stormed the farmland where the children were working, shooting sporadically, before abducting them.

It is also gathered that the children are calling on the state government to come to their rescue, as the terrorists have vowed to recruit them into their fold if ransom does not come quickly.
