Terrorists on tuesday abducted a Catholic Priest, Reverend Father Abraham Kunat, at Kurmin Sara Village, in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, in Kaduna State, Reverend Joseph Hayab, confirmed the abduction.

He said similar incidents have been happening in the state but under-reported.

The Chancellor, Archdiocese of Kaduna, Reverend Father Christian Emmanuel, in a statement, also confirmed the abduction of the priest.

He said Reverend Father Abraham Kunat, is the Parish Priest of St Bernard, Idon Gida, but was kidnapped by the terrorists at his home town, at about 12:30 pm.

The Chancellor added that the incident took place at St Mulumba, Kurmin Sara, Kachia LGA, where Father Kunat has been residing, due to insecurity.

The diocese solicits the prayerful support of the faithful and indeed all men and women of goodwill, that God Almighty will take control of the situation, preserve the priest, and bring him back to the Church unhurt.

Reverend Joseph Hayab, while confirming the abduction of Father Kunat, expressed dismay over the ugly incident and said that it is unfortunate that clergymen have become endangered species in Kaduna State.

The State CAN Chairman said there is need for government at all levels to address the issue, to secure residents from criminal elements terrorizing the state.
