Persons suspected to be terrorists have kidnapped Reverend Father Joseph Shekari, the Parish Priest of Saint Monica’s Catholic Church, in Ikulu Fari, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The incident occurred in late hours on Sunday.
A statement signed by the Chancellor, Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan, Reverend Father Emmanuel Okoli confirmed the incident.
Meanwhile, Senator Danjuma Laah representing Kaduna South has called on security agencies to swing into action and ensure the safe return of the cleric.
The lawmaker however called on the people of Southern Kaduna to remain calm and not to take the laws into their hands as security operatives are on top of the situation.

Laah added that the people of the zone are tired of the unabated bloodshed, abduction of the religious and traditional leaders in the area.
He appealed to the government to address the situation before it gets out of hand.
Also, an eyewitness, a resident of Ikulu Fari, Yohanna Madaki, who described the incident as “very devastating”, said the abductors also killed the cook of the abducted Reverend Father and went away with N2 million cash and other valuables that were realised at a thanksgiving service.
