Suspected terrorists have reportedly abducted a regional accountant of the Nigerian Customs Service in charge of Kano and Jigawa States.

He was seized from his country home, in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The Customs Officer, Mahassan Lawal, was kidnapped on Friday night at about 9:00 PM.

The terrorists had gone in large numbers on motorcycles and bearing sophisticated firearms when they stormed his house from where he was taken away.

Lawal was said to have returned to spend the weekend in his hometown, Tsafe, with his family.

He was said to have been kidnapped a few hours after his arrival.

The victim’s younger brother, Umar Lawal, said the abductors have contacted and told the family that Lawal is with them.

They have also demanded the sum of N10m ransom.

The Zamfara State Police Command is yet to react to the incident.

Tsafe Local Government in Zamfara State has been witnessing a series of renewed terrorists’ attacks in recent times.

This may have compelled the state government to ban commercial motorcycle’s operations from 7:00 pm to 6:00 am, as one of the measures to curtail the insecurity bedevilling the area.

Tsafe town is about 41 kilometres from Gusau, the Zamfara State capital and is the country home of the state’s Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG Mamman Tsafe.
