Terrorists operating in the forest area of Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, North-Central Nigeria have reportedly ambushed and killed six soldiers and abducted a Captain during the attack.
The incident occurred at Roro, Karaga and Rumace communities in Bassa Ward on Friday night at about 9pm. According to a source, the soldiers had left their camps at Allawa and Erena to respond to a distress call when the terrorists ambushed them at Roro village.

It was gathered that during the attack, the terrorists were also said to have killed a hunter and two farmers as well as burnt houses, food barns and motorcycles.
Although there has been no official reaction from the military high command, the Niger State Commissioner for Homeland Security, Brigadier-General Bello Mohammed (Rtd), confirmed the incident assuring that all hands are on deck to bring the perpetrators to face the law.
He added that the Government, on its part, is doing everything possible to end the insecurity issues in the state so that life will return to normal in due time.
Mohammed further disclosed that the government will stand by the bereaved families and share in their grief as well as support them, now and in the long term.
This attack on the military in Niger state is coming barely a month after a similar incident occurred when 17 military officers deployed on peace mission were killed in Okuama community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.
