The implication is that the resolution will fail despite the 14 votes in favour with no abstention
This comes after the killing of about 95 Palestinians with over 400 injured in fresh Gaza attacks
by Israeli forces within the 24-hours leading to the resolution.
The 15-member UN Security Council meeting also had on its agenda a vote on facilitating aid access across war torn Gaza.
The U.S. blames Hamas for the continued war. Acting U.S. ambassador to the UN Dorothy Shea criticized other members of the security council for failing to “acknowledge that Hamas could end he war by surrendering and laying down its arms”
The envoy also accused the U.N.
of not labeling and sanctioning Hamas as a terrorist organization
Palestinians living in Gaza are said to be facing famine according to aid groups with news agency Reuters reporting that Israel has renewed its military offensive in Gaza.
