The United States says three service members have been killed in its ongoing military operation against Iran.
The Iranian authorities earlier on Sunday named senior cleric, Alireza Arafi as interim Supreme Leader even as the situation in the Middle East remains in turmoil with nine people killed in Israel.
The acting leader will replace Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in Saturday’s strikes by the United States and Israel.
The 67-year-old Arafi will hold the forte-as the Iranians continue retaliatory strikes which have killed three United States Service members, according to the U.S Central Command. Five other U.S military Personnel have been injured.
Iran on the other hand has recorded over 200 deaths, according to state media.

The U.S and Israel have continued to hit Iran’s major cities with the conflict putting the region in turmoil.
Thousands of flights into the Middle East, which is a hub for global aviation have been cancelled.
The son of the former monarch of Iran, Reza Pahlavi has spoken on the killing of the Ayatollah.
Writing on X, the 65-year-old who fled with his family during the 1979 overthrow of his father said “With his death, the Islamic Republic has effectively come to an end and will soon be consigned to the dustbin of history.”
Indeed, a tense situation has enveloped not just the Middle East, but the entire world with many nations on high alert.
