Thuggery: Police Arrest 24 Suspects, Recover Dangerous Weapons In Niger State

The Niger State Police Command says it has intensified the fight against the menace of thuggery, youth restiveness and armed robbery in Minna metropolis with the arrest of 24 suspects on July 30.

Spokesman of the Police, Superintendent Wasi’u Abiodun, in a statement, said police operatives of the Anti-thuggery unit of SCID Minna, with Maitumbi, Central Police Stations and vigilante members arrested the suspects during a sting operation at Angwa-Roka, Kwari-Berger, Flamingo and Tudun.

The suspects arrested at different locations are between the ages of 16 and 30.

Exhibits recovered from them include one automatic pump action gun with two live cartridges, one bolt cutter, Cutlasses, scissors, shisha pots and other Illicit substances.

All suspects are under investigation and efforts to arrest other gang members are in progress.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Adamu Elleman, has assured members of the public that the Command would continue to be proactive in tackling crime and criminality in the environment, and urged all to continue to support the Police with the needed cooperation in addressing the challenges.
