The Nigeria Police Force has announced the resumption of enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit nationwide, effective January 2, 2026.
In a press statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Force says the decision follows rising security concerns, noting that criminals increasingly use vehicles with unauthorised tinted glass to conceal their identities and commit crimes such as kidnapping and armed robbery.
Police authorities clarified that there was no court order restraining enforcement of the law, explaining that the earlier suspension was a voluntary move to allow motorists time to regularise their documents.
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, assured that enforcement will be carried out professionally, with respect for citizens’ rights and in line with existing laws.
Motorists requiring tinted glass permits have been advised to apply through approved channels and ensure full compliance before the enforcement date.
