President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has charged African Chiefs of Defence Staff to establish robust agreements for cooperation and coordination, stressing that only collective defence mechanisms can counter the continent’s fast-evolving security threats.
Speaking through Vice President Kashim Shettima at the ongoing African Chief of Defence Staff Conference in Abuja, the President urged security leaders to share resources and infrastructure in order to boost operational efficiency and readiness.
He stated that Africa’s complex security challenges, from terrorism to cross-border crimes require home-grown solutions, insisting that unity of purpose will strengthen the continent’s capacity to defend its people and territory.
