Tinubu Renames Federal University After Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the renaming of the Federal University of Science and Technology, Azare, as Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi University of Science and Technology, Azare, in honour of the late Islamic scholar.

The approval was announced during the President’s condolence visit to the family of the revered spiritual leader in Bauchi State.

President Tinubu led a high-powered federal delegation to Bauchi following the death of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.

The delegation included the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, governors of the All Progressives Congress, ministers, and other senior government officials.

The President described the late cleric as a man of integrity, discipline, and deep commitment to education, Islamic scholarship, and national unity.

He said the decision to rename the federal university was to immortalise Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi’s lifelong contribution to learning, moral guidance, and peaceful coexistence.

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, and the son of the late Islamic leader, Dr. Bashir Dahiru, thanked President Tinubu for the visit and the honour, describing it as a source of comfort to the family and the people of Bauchi State.

Special prayers and Qur’anic recitations were offered for the late Sheikh, with prayers for Allah to grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
