President Bola Tinubu has written to the Nigerian Senate, requesting the swift confirmation of Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
In the letter, President Tinubu urged the Senate to promptly consider and approve the nominations to ensure uninterrupted leadership of the Petroleum regulatory agencies.
The request follows the resignations of Engineer Farouk Ahmed, former CEO of the NMDPRA, and Gbenga Komolafe, former CEO of the NUPRC.
Both officials were appointed in 2021 by former President Muhammadu Buhari to head the agencies established under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).
Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has referred the nominations to the Senate Committee on Petroleum Upstream and Downstream for expedited consideration and a further confirmation.
