The Tiv community in Kaduna has called on the government to accelerate efforts to resettle Internally Displaced Persons, (IDPs) in Benue, Kaduna and other states in northern Nigeria.

The Tiv community made the appeal at a forum aimed at promoting unity and development in Nigeria.

In addition to promoting unity, the Tiv community in Kaduna is urging government to expedite action in the resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons in Benue, Kaduna, and other states in Nigeria where insecurity is prevalent.

Originating from Kunav Land, the Tiv community emphasises that the lack of resettlement for IDPs in most northern states not only exacerbates the humanitarian crisis, but also poses a significant obstacle to progress.

The forum underscores the importance of addressing the root causes of insecurity, urging the government to create a conducive environment for the return and resettlement of displaced individuals and their families.

Furthermore, they appeal to the youth to leverage on social media platforms to promote peace, foster dialogue and understanding among the communities for positive change.

The Tiv community believes that with prayer and support from leaders, the country can progress towards sustainable development, transcending Benue and Kaduna States.
