Team Nigeria has won its second medal at the on-going Tokyo 2020 Paralympics games thanks to Lucy Ejike, who picked up a bronze in the women’s powerlifting event on Saturday.

Competing in the -61kg, Ejike’s lift of 130kg was only good enough for a third-placed finish.

Mexico’s Amalia Perez (131kg) and Uzbekistan’s Ruza Kuzieva (130kg), matched Ejike’s opening weight of 130kg.

She failed her last two attempts at 135kg and had to settle for a Bronze medal. It would be recalled that Latifat Tijani won Team Nigeria’s first medal after clinching gold in powerlifting.

In fourth place is the United States of America who has nine gold, six silver and three bronze medals
